"One of the last letters Dan wrote to his family was thanking us for giving him "the need to see how other people live and the ability to be jealous of them." That statement expresses what Dan most valued from his years of travel, both with his family and later by himself.
Our intention with the Daniel Sinclair Bredahl Scholarship is to give young people the ability to discover "the need to see how other people live." It seeks to honor Dan's memory by recognizing and supporting some of the wonderful young adventurers at UF, who might also discover within themselves the need to learn and value the cultures and lives of other individuals. If those students can then incorporate that discovery into their lives, they would be fulfilling the purpose of the Scholarship and honoring Dan's memory; his dreams." - Carl Bredahl, Daniel's Father |
